Heroes, by the way, do not have to be granite-jawed leading men like Jack Lord. Think of Duncan (Liam James), the ultra-dorky year-old protagonist of The Way, Way Back. Heroes don’t come any nerdier than Duncan or more cowed by life. But before we judge him too hastily, let’s watch Duncan in action through the lens of the Jack Lord Rule.   Question: "What do LORD, GOD, Lord, God, etc., stand for in the Bible? Why are they used in place of God’s name?" Answer: It can be very confusing to understand how the different titles used for God are used in the Bible. Part of the problem is that different Bible translations use the terms somewhat differently.

Two elements of The Lord of the Rings that I see most commonly criticized—the slow opening to The Fellowship of the Ring and the post-climax “Scouring of the Shire”—are also, in my opinion, the foremost reasons why the novel has endured and inspired for over 60 years. One thing that Tolkien does better than any other epic fantasist I. Psalm 2 King James Version (KJV). 2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Question: "Why is praising God important?" Answer: The book of Psalms is the praise book of the Bible, and it gives us hundreds of reasons why praise is important, as well as examples of how to give praise to God. In examining those reasons and examples, one thing becomes clear. “It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High ” (Psalm ). In writing Lord of the Flies, William Golding wanted to show in one microcosm the evolution—or actually devolution—of society. Having served in the British Navy during World War II, Golding.
